The impact of this poem depends on whether the last line can deliver or not, and it certainly does, because the sun "cutting open the knot of night" suggests very powerfully that the restraints that bind us (be they the weather or the darkness) are always only temporary, and that light will prevail again. Very uplifting, Jonathan!
