(Rerun from one year ago today)
I’m holding a tin box purchased at the duty free shop in some airport, Heathrow perhaps. It's painted red and on one side it has the names of famous British fire trucks and on the other side the names of famous British ambulances. C.S. Lewis wrote about them, perhaps invented them. Inside the tin, as I understand it: cards and possibly cookies (biscuits) for snacking and for playing a game based on the various unique sirens of the fire trucks and ambulances. The challenge and fun is to know your history as you eat your treats.
Seriously, the nostalgia this sparks is lovely.
Tins do rust, but store cards and writing materials, stamps, envelopes to keep dry and use at your discretion. Some are antique left for years and to be used in emergency. Notes to the wisest people you know.
