From the top of Butte, Montana
Towards the continental divide
There’s a seething in the sunrise
And a subtlety of feeling

As autumn turns into winter
And the time has come to decide:
Will we keep on counting the days
And the time that we’ve been stealing

Or will we throw the calendar
Into the river of surprise
And grab ahold of the daylight
And blow the roof off the ceiling

Because the continent can’t hide
The love that’s rising in our eyes
