Unpeeling the sunrise like an errant orange Across the river from Cafe du Monde, I and the other refugees of morning Have gathered here to pay our homage to The Mississippi and the love left over From the many plates of love we served The night before the night before the night Adventure took us down a path of light In such a spell of love we were unnerved To see our names and to discover Resurrection in some graveyard voodoo, Some cajun music and some beads adorning The dial tone left after you phoned To announce something wonderful and strange.
This poem gives a three dimensional montage to a moment of reflection, inspiration, and celebration.
And so New Orleans lives to see another day. Love that place.
