The Sun The joy of the return of the sun is fraught with the thought of night. The Indian summer's velvet-season adventures are haunted by the thought of winter. The morning is bracing. The Moon The map of the moon on display against the pale cobalt sky is what we see: the moon itself showing its face to the earth while holding its cold fingers crossed with dark secrets behind its back.

"Velvet season adventures, are haunted by the thought of winter." I love both poems...this line grabbed me, as I feel it deeply, at this time of year. Winter on the coast of California has become wet and wild. The winter floods of '23-'24 were brutal for this little resort town of Capitola, California. Gorgeous photos, as well Jonathan!
