I do love the imagery of the sun kicking off its blankets…

And I do realize you approach poetry as one who studies the forms and respects them ..

And though I kept losing the thread — it was only aspersions that confounded me. Often. And Consistently.

It confounded me, too, but I was determined to not let that stop me!

The photos reminded me of el Greco’s View of Toledo..

Nice comparison. I've always been bemused by el Greco -- and now el Greca :)

I love these word-woven tapestries you make, Jonathan. Your “asper-sions” are well employed.

“the sprung rhymic aspersions

of some drunk poet riding a bike” This fits perfectly. That’s what makes it even better.

I have never tried this form. I have seen you use it before. It seems to produce a calming trance type feeling in me, especially the way you animate commonplace experience, especially the way you frame up mornings.

One of the aspects I enjoy most in your poetry, Jonathan, is the way you invite me to forget about the static and white noise of the modern world by elevating the commonplace in such a way that it easily holds my attention.

I leave feeling refreshed.

Thanks Jed, yes, you’re right about the trance-like feeling that can be induced by the sestina. That’s what I love about them. Thank you for putting that nice spin on my Chauncey Gardner like ways.
