Enjoyed and appreciate this poem. One of the better and more thoughtful tributes to mothers than many I've read - though I accept that all are well meant and to be appreciated.
My only critique would be that, to me, the encyclopaedia's 'proper' position is actually in the hands of your mother and yourself, where it is of real and intended value - though I accept what was your intended meeting.
Thanks again, for all your work that I read, whether I identify with it or not. You have shared so much that has enriched me.
That was a great one all right, and as luck has it, I stumbled upon it to right upon opening the app. Really nice poem & a great Mother’s Day appreciation.
I remember being allowed to bring one book to church for the main service to keep boredom at bay. In that way I read the entirety of "The Golden Book Encyclopedia" over time.
And I learned that Chechoslovakia exported gypsum and textiles and I learned who Hitler was.
A lovely Mother's Day poem. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, Trevor
That’s beautiful!!! The Light Shines in the Darkness! I remember when mother’s and encyclopedias used to do that.
Thank you, Viola! Yes mothers and encyclopedias go together somehow, I think.
Foundational leadership
Thanks, Stan -- interesting take!
What a gorgeous tribute to your mother on what is Mother's Day in the US and Canada.!
Thank you, Martin!
How can I not revere her too now? Wonderful tribute, not only love but guidance. 🩷
Thank you, Patris 🙏
‘At’s a motha(!)

Thank you, LeeAnn
What a great mom you have! This is a lovely poem.
"and pulled down a volume of
the encyclopedia set
that sat on the highest shelf
and opened it to a page
that she and I read together
until sparks flew off the page"
I remember being allowed to bring one book to church for the main service to keep boredom at bay. In that way I read the entirety of "The Golden Book Encyclopedia" over time.
And I learned that Chechoslovakia exported gypsum and textiles and I learned who Hitler was.
And nothing was quite the same after that.
This poem struck home.
So beautiful.
Thank you
