I've placed a couch across the highway That runs past the Hanford nuclear site In the desert between Tri-Cities and Vantage. It's the middle of the day And no one's around. My friend Kerry Drives up, possibly in the old T-Bird He bought from my folks back in the day. He stops a few yards in front of me, His tires straddling the center line of the road. Kerry gets out, looking like his usual Irascible-amiable self. We exchange greetings. The dream cuts to documentary-style Info about Hanford and the Hanford Reach. We stand there talking. I keep looking over Kerry's shoulder, Expecting a cop or someone traveling To appear on the horizon. "Shall we move this?" I say. We move the couch To the side of the road.
I wish every problem could be solved this easily, including energy issues.
Oddly enough, this sounds more commonplace than surreal. Almost as though it was a comforting type of dream. Nicely conveyed.
