The river is Substack, the waterskiing is Potter Poems, I'm pretty sure a boat with "Iterations" inscribed on the stern will be pulling up at any moment. I know exactly who the stoner represents in my psyche -- and it's not a literal stoner.
It sounds like there’s a part of you that’s being passive, waiting to be pulled up by someone else from the water, and there’s another part of you that wants you to just detach and get stoned. I’d be curious about which part you identify with the most? The waiting one –or the stoner- or another part entirely? What a great dream.
You needed jet skis with your own turbine power pack. No tow rope nor asking for ride. This is your dream. Change it and surf the 🌊 waves. Set your self free.
Sometimes stoners are the least chill people around. They can’t believe someone would not want to be as stoned as they are. They take it as an indictment.
That's been true in my experience, too, Alan. And I'm pretty sure the stoner in the dream represents, not stoners per se, but someone else who'd been agitating my psyche recently. See my reply to Mike above.
This dream, as best I can make out, is actually an allegory. The river is @Substack, the waterskiing is poetry, the people coming and going in boats are fellow Substackers, and the stoner is just some jerk who would distract me from the task at hand.
I don't know how to interpret your dream from your perspective. Do dreams say something about the world we all walk in? Or, as I read somewhere, do all the parts of a dream -players, setting, narrative- reflect different facets of the dreamers' psyche? At any rate, I have found that dreams can be rendered into intriguing, enigmatic poetry with wondrous layers of ambiguity.
This got a few laughs out of me! These kinds of dreams seem simple until you take into account what's currently going on in your life. I guess it just depends on how the imagination decides to spin the dream.
I’m stuck on the idea of wading out into river with your skis. Hoping for a ride. That is so hopeful and sweet and trusting. I consider myself a positive person. But not that positive I guess. And definitely not that trusting. Although the stoner was a surprisingly negative turn. How dare he burst your bubble.
Color me curious!

I’d skip interacting with him too
You are wise, Patris. See my response to Mike above.

That's a pretty good take on it, Zinnia, but see my response to Mike Speriosu above.
I enjoyed this poem and the attention to detail. Liked the images you created.
Thank you, Harley.

Thanks, Richard -- amen.

Hahahahaha! Bad salesman? The stoner inquisition? What a dream to wake up to.
Thanks, Pilgrim. I love "stoner inquisition"! See my explanation above for additional thoughts.

Thanks, Bob, good thoughts.

Thanks, Daniel! Yes, I think Kierkegaard's "truth is subjectivity" applies here in spades.

It’s an allegory of the Substack experience.
