We take the Starlight every summer from LA to San Diego to see the horse races. DeMar is located within walking distance of the train station. It’s always a pleasant family outing.
A few years ago the trip back from Delmar was a nightmare. Someone fell off the train at one of the stops. I think in San Juan Capistrano. Been up near Irvine a day tree had fallen on the tracks. We are on the plane for about three hours until the tree was removed. But we made a lot of friends! Lol!
How wonderful. We could all use a miracle.
Word! We could all use a miracle.
Amen
Thank you, Patris -- yes, miracles all around
Great Los Angeles poem and some fancy poetry foot work with the "dozzina (double sestina)."
Thank you, Pamela -- I like the "fancy footwork" descriptor!
It just came to me in a flash of inspiration!
Don't know how you do it. Amazing.
Thank you, Ann.
A poem with so many memories. I concur, we could all use a miracle.
Thank you, Monica
Thank you Jonathan for this vibrant writing and telling of your life.
Thank you, Gary
This makes me feel at home. Thank you, sir. This beauty reminds me of one of my favorites I wrote a while back “take my song to the coast “.
Which in turn reminds me of this: https://jopomojo.substack.com/p/if-you-could-give-me-a-ride

Oh wow.
Thanks, sis 🙏
A wonderful tribute. Indeed, nothing will be as it was before. Cherish the memories, treasure the now.
Thank you, Ron — your summation applies nicely to life in general, too. Words to live by
This makes me reminisce about memories that aren't even my own. Evocative work.
A great comment, Mark, thank you
Much I like here. "Tony Alva" blew me away!
Thanks Fred. I put Alva in as an iconic L.A. stand in for Hawk.
