The combination of old fashioned rhymes and modern thoughts is irresistible. I particularly like the beginning of the third stanza which underscores the whole idea of patience. This is a very fine poem.

"Wait I do and wait I will

for my print job at the shop"

I am very sorry, Jonathan. I had 'irresponsible' instead of 'irresistible' and I've just changed it. I must remember to check those predictive text words. I only saw it because I've come back to do a restack.

Hahaha! Thanks Martin — I had a bemused grin on my face, figuring you were joking around. “In rhymes begin irresponsibilities” is what I was thinking.

No, nothing like tht. But when I saw it, I knew you'd be trying to figure it out. I hope the restack brings a few more readers.

This is one that I will read again, and again,

Standing here out in the cold,

my bones ache to have to wait

for things that have been foretold

like free will and the chance of fate,

like the train or getting old,

like the sunrise or love and hate.

My Sensei says

Improve by one percent

I'm looking at my toes

They look worse

than I remember last year

In your eighties

To improve by one percent

like the train of getting old

Means you've beaten back

That schedule of trains

At least another two

A sunrise as beautiful as this is worth getting up for no matter the situation.

Very true, thanks Monica

This is actually beautiful. This is what patience feels like to me. A long while back, well, maybe not that long ago, in frustration, I told someone, they would never understand the passion of patience. Huh? was their retort. My brain in it's best Scooby Do voice thought, "Rut Ro, I was right."

And this is actually hilarious — thank you, Bliss

Perhaps—are we

each other’s mirror?

And in between

Sky and ocean

Would tell us

“Please,

Remember me”

Wait. The sun is born. Rises . Leaves the womb to shine life. Waits only for sister stars at night to shine. Wait for light. Close eyes. Dreams full fill waiting hours. Heart beats patient with another stroke of a clock’s tick. Wait the time will end with a passage in the West where sun rests. No reason not to continue. Be patient. Mistress waits.
