i slept eleven
hours which is longer than
i've slept since college

ii.
when i woke i looked
out the window facing east
to see that winter

iii.
had had its way with
my neighborhood and turned it
white and blue and calm

iv.
patiently i kept
my watch on the horizon
until the sun came
