I grew up in Oregon and Idaho. That stretch of the Columbia was mostly drive-through territory for me but one of my great-uncles worked at the Hanford nuclear facility long before I was born and still lives between there and Spokane.
I spent my childhood in a little town called Lind that might be near where your great uncle lives. I also attended college in Walla Walla. And I've lived in North Idaho and Spokane, not to mention Seattle and other western Washington locales.
The simple language should not trick the reader into thinking that not much is happening in this poem. What the sunrise does to the speaker or observer is worthy of good poetry. The light is ever preferable to the darkness. Good read!

Some olds songs sing memories you never tire of hearing or creating new ones,
Both the photo and poem are breathtaking.
Poetic light as ducks paddle sun rays
River ripples reflections
Harmonize
I came here to write exactly what Gloria said! So, I will add, they are also both soul-stopping.
Such a beautiful circle of journey feeling in these words
My favorite! Each one is a beautiful sunrise.
It’s nice to see your love for the beauty there🌅
Oh wow, this one is extra special. And that's saying something compared to your consistent quality work!
Glorious.
Beautiful!
Beautiful photo and poem. I miss the PNW greatly. You're near onion territory!
Walla Walla Sweets!
The best!
Do you have ties to the area?

Awesome! I went to high school in Weiser, Idaho, but mostly grew up in the Willamette Valley. I do miss the PNW. It's a beautiful place.
Poetic blessings are the best.
Just beautiful. 💙💛
