It's quite difficult to make poems like this work. The prosody is so mechanical. But in this case that's the whole point. Form and content match.

Thank you, John — as usual, your comments are enlightening and on point. I’m grateful to have connected with you here. I still intend to respond to your provocative little essay one of these days.

This is a particularly fine villanelle. The two key lines it hinges on are both musical and memorable and work very well together.

"A year ago today" I enjoyed this. That time when the Sun is straddling sleep, and work. is one of my favorite times to be awake. You inspired me to look back to a project I set aside months ago, but prior to that, I had set her aside shortly after July of 2011. Thank you

Such a lovely poem. As I have been sleep deprived lately, it really resonated with me.

A flight to the east to catch the sun. Stay awake while birds bridge the dark skies cloak.

The day begins before the wings set down. Say good morning to the night. Open eyes to the light.

So comforting, like being rocked. And, as I am currently jet lagged, I really jive with saying good morning to the night. Thank you, Jonathan.

Thanks, Mike — great observation … the connection between poetry and nursery rhymes and the comforting soothing affection of infancy.

it's very lyrical in context. Elton John rings familiar or perhaps a secret line from the Beatles. The light revolves around the sacred Night. This poem contains some lovely metaphors. It is an affirmation of the sameness Nature exudes. It is this routine which is so inspirational. Thank you for the audio clip.

Poetry should arrest the senses, emotions, moods, and kindred soul too.

Say good morning to the night is a line from the Elton John song Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters

What a great title: Wake up and say good morning to the night! Absolutely relate to this and you've included the title in the poem just where I thought it would turn up! Lovely work!
